Today (20 March 2025), Pol. Maj. Gen. Charoonkiat Pankaew, Deputy Commissioner of the Central Investigation Bureau, led a force to arrest a civil engineer from Highways Office 1 and an employee from Highways Office 1 under an arrest warrant from the Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases, Region 5, on charges of "being an official who solicits property or benefits improperly, being an official who performs or neglects to perform duties improperly" at his office in Highways Office 1, Chiang Mai, after evidence in the form of a video clip showed that both of them had behaved in a manner that demanded benefits from people whose land had been expropriated in the expansion project of Road No. 1359, Chiang Dao District, Chiang Mai Province.
